Still Circling Back?
We’re checking back in with the 10 phrases our attendees say are the most overused buzzwords for their workplaces in 2023
This past January, our founder Kevin Hubschmann shared 10 of last year’s most overused workplace phrases in a feature for HRD: 10 annoying office buzzwords to ditch in 2023.
Now that we’re halfway through the year, we thought it was time we touched base with you on the latest overused office terminology. Since our start in 2019, we’ve been surveying team members ahead of each of our virtual comedy shows and remote team building activities, asking them what phrases they are ready to retire after hearing them over and over.
What are we seeing as of late? Employees are still leveraging, pinging, and synergizing. Zoom lingo has become the norm, and many are still forgetting that they’re on mute. The top buzzword of 2021 was Circle Back, and this remains a top submission in corporate comedy show surveys across all industries. Here’s the latest low hanging fruit, so to speak:
Top 2023 Office Lingo
Paradigm shift
Circle back
Move the needle
Slack me
Touch base
Optimization
Swim lane
Bandwidth
I am going to have to drop for another meeting
Can we jump on a call?
