Office Buzzwords We Would Rather Not “Circle Back” On

The new year has arrived, so it’s time to refresh our office buzzwords.

In a feature for HRD, our founder Kevin Hubschmann used his expertise to compile a list of 10 annoying office buzzwords that have become repetitive in his career producing corporate comedy shows.

Since founding Laugh.Events in 2019, Kevin has experienced the evolution of office culture from in-person offices to remote work firsthand, and he’s heard plenty of buzz from participants of our virtual comedy shows and in-person corporate stand up comedy events.

We love seeing the whole office laughing about the ridiculous amount of times they’ve been told to “touch base” or “think outside the box.” Attendees for Laughing & Bonding, our engaging, team-building comedy offering, have shown us that Kevin isn’t the only one who’s heard these phrases a few too many times. Before each show, we survey attendees for the inside scoop on their office buzzwords, and then use these results to personalize the experience.

Given the survey responses we’ve received, it’s safe to say Kevin speaks for the people on the phrase circle back. “It's time for this circle to close. A majority of the people surveyed mentioned this term. And we can’t blame them. It’s often used to avoid certain topics, but doesn’t do nearly enough to provide relevant information,” Kevin writes.
