Thinking about how to put your company’s values into words, or in the process of redefining them? Consider adding Laughter into the mix. Here’s why:

It’s backed in science.

Our advisor, Dr. Natalie Dattilo, says we’re not finding enough time to “play,” and that this can coexist with work. “You want to create the space and structure to allow for the fun. Fun is what leads to flow…you lose yourself in it.” As a Clinical Psychologist and Instructor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Dattilo’s work has centered around approaching the incorporation of play into our daily lives seriously, as it’s a key tool for improving mental health.

It creates a community of trust & improves productivity.

Ben Hindman, Co-Founder of Splash event marketing software, speaks on his team’s core value of Find the fun: “The most productive thing you can do is find fun, right? It really does build trust that makes you be able to move faster and makes people actually want to show up for work.” One of Ben’s favorite examples of applying this value? A Top Chef competition involving remixing cereals in order to hone change management skills.

It’s better when consistent.

Our founder, Kevin Hubschmann, believes in the power of establishing consistency through regular events, rather than a one-time fun activity. “The idea of play is much more of an attitude than a particular activity. We can come up with activities, but really it's a mindset and it's an approach to how you live.” After receiving an influx of repeat corporate comedy event requests from customers, Hubschmann wanted to create a solution that catered to their needs. He introduced a Laugh Breaks Membership option to encourage companies to fit in routine moments of laughter throughout the year, as opposed to just holiday party entertainment or a single event.

What are your company’s core values? Looking for team building trust activities? We want to hear from you and help add more laughter to your workplace culture - set up some time to talk to our team.
